Tavkveri

Although predominantly grown in the East of Georgia, particualry around Kartli, there is actually very little production of Tavkveri around making it difficult to determine what kind of potential the grape really has. While the best wines so far are dry but fragrant wines with curious aromas of herb, spice and sour cherry, there are also some rose examples to be found. As with most red Georgian grape varieties, it is also used in semi-sweet wines. There are also some good examples produced in a natural way.
