“While most consumers remain unfamiliar with the indigenous grapes of Armenia, Voskehat tastes familiar, merging the round acidity of Chardonnay with the slippery texture of Viognier. Though typical of the grape, texture also stems from the wine’s maturity at nearly six years of age, as well as fermentation in clay amphora and aging in 500-litre oak barrels. A muted nose gives way to flavours of button mushrooms, bosc pear, and citrus on the palate. Creamy with a touch of sapidity, the finish continues for a good ten seconds.”
