Chkhaveri

Chkhaveri is a pink skinned grape variety grown in the west of Goergia, particularly in the regions of Guria and Ajara. Here the influence of the Black Sea creates high levels of humidity and thus a threat of fungal disease. In response, this late ripening variety is frequently grown high up in trees to maximise ventilation. Chkhaveri produces spicy wines with restrained fruit flavours.
