Corinto Nero

Corinto Nero is an ancient red grape variety originating, as the name suggests, from Corinth in Greece. It travelled to Sicily during the Magna Graecia period in the seventh century BC. It is still planted on Sicily, and in particular on the island of Lipari, where it is sometimes blended with Malvasia di Lipari to produce a sweet wine. Assumed to be related to the Corinto Bianco and Corinto Rosa grapes found occasionally in Northern Italy.
