Damaschino

Damaschino is a little known white variety found in Sicily. As its name suggests, speculation indicates its origins may be the Syrian city of Damascus. Today it is found in small amounts in the Sicilian provinces of Trapani and Agrigento, where it is swallowed up into large scale Marsala production. There are some producers making still wines from the grape in Delia Nivolelli DOC.
