Bulichella is owned by the Miyakawa family, originally from Japan. Hideyuki Miyakawa, who moved to Italy in the 1980s, founded the estate with a vision of organic farming and sustainable winemaking. Today, the family continues to oversee operations, maintaining a strong commitment to both environmental responsibility and quality-driven viticulture.

The estate was established in 1983 when Hideyuki Miyakawa, a Japanese entrepreneur, purchased the property in Suvereto. Initially conceived as a sustainable farming project, Bulichella gradually evolved into a dedicated wine estate. Over the decades, it has gained recognition for its organic approach and focus on Bordeaux varietals, distinguishing itself in the Maremma wine scene.

Bulichella is located in Suvereto, a medieval town in Tuscany’s coastal Maremma region. It falls within the Val di Cornia DOCG, an appellation known for its warm Mediterranean climate and mineral-rich soils. The proximity to the Tyrrhenian Sea influences the vineyards, helping maintain balance and freshness in the wines.

The estate spans approximately 42 hectares, with 17 hectares dedicated to vines. Bulichella cultivates Bordeaux varieties—Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot—alongside Sangiovese and other indigenous grapes. Organic farming has been a core philosophy since the beginning, with meticulous vineyard management aimed at preserving biodiversity and enhancing soil health.

Bulichella employs a minimal intervention approach in the winery, emphasizing terroir expression. Fermentations are conducted using natural yeasts, and aging takes place in French oak barrels, allowing structured yet refined wines to develop. The estate is known for its Bordeaux-inspired blends, crafted with precision and an emphasis on balance.

Bulichella’s flagship wine is Coldipietrerosse, a Bordeaux-style blend showcasing the estate’s commitment to elegance and structure. Tuscanio is another highlight, offering a Sangiovese-driven expression of the terroir. The portfolio includes a range of reds, whites, and rosés, all produced with an organic and quality-driven ethos.

Bulichella offers guided tours of its vineyards and winery, emphasizing its organic farming practices. Tastings include a selection of wines paired with local products, providing insight into the estate’s philosophy. Guests can also stay at the agriturismo, experiencing the winery’s hospitality in a scenic Tuscan setting.
