Camel Valley

The Lindo family produce a range of award-winning sparkling and still wines. They became the first English wine producer to be granted a royal warrant.

🗺 Cornwall, United Kingdom

Camel Valley is the largest vineyard in Cornwall and represents one of the top English winemaking brands. The estate was purchased in 1989 by the former RAF pilot Bob Lindo and his wife. Noticing how much sun their new fields absorbed, they sensed the exposure may be suitable for grape growing and subsequently followed a DIY crash course in all things wine making. Bob went to Germany for a vintage to study northern varieties and their vilification process. The early days were not easy; a small team and a limited understanding of English wines meant it was very much a labour of love. After winning some early awards however they were confident of the new path and endeavoured to continue to make the best wines they possibly could. Today Bob's son, Sam, has taken over the reigns and with a more formal training in viticulture and wine making the winery is entering a new chapter in its history.
