Château d'Yquem

Château d'Yquem is almost unanimously considered to be the world's leading sweet wine estate. Located in Sauternes it spent centuries in family ownership until its sale in 1999 to the LVMH group. Occupying 110 hectares of Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc, it is fermented in new barrique and is left to mature for up to 36 months to produce a rich and exotic wine that can last 50 years and more.

The beauty of the these wines is that can age pretty much indefinitely. Much of the magic in Yquem's wines develops over time, but there is still much to like about the wine when young. Ideally, you'd give them at least a decade before pulling the cork.
