Château Lascombes

Second growth estate in Margaux.

🗺 Bordeaux, France

Like many of the great left bank estates, Château Lascombes is picture perfect. The sprawling estate looks out over its well tended gardens. Since 2001, Château Lascombes has been owned by American investors. On arrival they had the soil tested and after discovering that there was an opportunity to replant they did so. Merlot was swiftly planted on clay soils. Today the Lascombes is made up of 50% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon and an unusually large 5% Petit Verdot. The vineyards are spread out in a rather fragmented way. They now average between 35 and 60 years old.
