Podere Allocco

Podere Allocco is one of the estates to keep an eye on in the Carmignano DOCG area of Tuscany.

Podere Allocco is a small and relatively new winery near Capezzana in the heart of the Carmignano DOCG area. Emilio Manelli purchased the 1.5 hectare property in 1992 from the Lastraioli family who owned it since the mid 20th century. Production is small, but the wines are well worth hunting down. The Barco Reale DOC is made with Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, as are the Carmignano and the more age worthy *riserva*.
