Produced for the first time in 1997, and taking the name of the vineyard, Pulleraia is made from 100% [Merlot](/grape/merlot) grown in the Massa Marittima area of [Tuscany](/region/tuscany). Planted in alluvial soils at just short of four hundred metres above sea level, the wine tends to combine attractive aromas with power and concentration. It spends at least twelve months in barrel with 50% new oak and another twelve months in bottle before release.
