Pomino DOC Riserva "Benefizio" by Castello Pomino

The Pomino DOC Chardonnay Riserva “Benefizio” is the flagship white wine from Castello di Pomino, part of the historic Frescobaldi portfolio. Sourced from high-altitude vineyards between 680m and 730m above sea level, the wine reflects the cool, breezy conditions of the Apennine foothills and the light, sandy soils of the Pomino zone. Crafted from 100% Chardonnay, “Benefizio” sees a gentle pressing, followed by fermentation split between stainless steel and French oak barriques, with partial malolactic fermentation to soften the texture. Ageing takes place over about ten months in a mix of new and second-fill oak, before resting a further four months in bottle prior to release. The result is a refined and complex white wine that articulates both varietal character and the distinctive terroir of Pomino. It is one of the most important references for Chardonnay in Tuscany.
