Vinchio-Vaglio's Nizza “Laudana” is a red wine made from 100% Barbera grapes grown in the Bricco Laudana vineyards, a south- to south-west-facing ridge between Vinchio and Mombercelli in Piedmont. The vines are typically over 50 years old, and the grapes are harvested by hand. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel with around 10 days of maceration, followed by malolactic fermentation in steel. The wine is then aged for approximately 18 months in a mix of French oak barriques (both new and used) and large oak casks, before further refinement in tank and bottle prior to release. It is classified as Nizza DOCG, produced from vineyards at 250 metres altitude on sandy soils with some clay.
