Santa Maddalena wines

Santa Maddalena (St. Magdalener in German) is one of the Alto Adige sub zones. Located on the hills overlooking the city of Bolzano, this historic area is mostly planted with the traditional red skinned grape Schiava. The amount of Schiava in Alto Adige has declined markedly over the last few decades, but what is left is treated with more care and respect than ever before. The sub zone off Santa Maddalena is one of the best areas in the region to find it.
