Clos de la Rougeotte is a small Premier Cru vineyard on the lower slopes of Volnay, near the border with Pommard, known for producing Pinot Noir with a firmer, more structured character. Historically a monopole of Domaine Henri Boillot, the site was acquired by Domaine François Buffet, who has vinified the parcel since 2009. With deeper soils containing a higher proportion of clay, the vineyard yields wines with dark fruit, generous texture, and a more robust profile than many central Volnay climats, while still retaining the finesse associated with the appellation.
