Paso Robles is one of the most exciting AVA territories in California at the moment. Long considered the wild west of viticulture there has been a rapid increase in wineries located here, all of which follow their own preferences in terms of grapes and style. York Mountain was given AVA status in 1984 and is one of San Luis Obispo’s four AVA. York Mountain’s viticultural history dates back to the late 1800s when British settlers started to plant vines. Today the area is known for some premium wines from Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir.
