Tokaj is world famous for its long history of producing exceptional sweet wines from the Furmint and the Hárslevelű. In more recent years there has been a big quality push on dry wines and these now represent some of Hungary’s best white wines.
The Barta family have been producing Tokaj since commencing their winemaking project back in 2003. The company is best known for reviving the historic vineyards on the Király Mountain, known as Öreg Király or ‘Old King Vineyard’.
Sauska is one of the most important wine projects in Tokaj and indeed Hungary. Boasting an impressive portfolio of historic vineyards, Sauska’s wines amongst the top references for dry Furmint.
Founded by French oenologist Stéphanie Berecz with her husband in in the village of Tarcal in the Tokaj region, Kikelet, which means springtime in Hungarian, is producing exciting dry wines from Furmint.
