High potential red grape variety grown throughout Austria and Hungary, where it is known as Kékfrankos.
Blaufränkisch is perhaps Austria’s most sought after red variety. Its long regional presence has made it somewhat of an institution but it’s only in recent years that producers are starting to get to grips with it as a variety capable of making great wines that can age and improve for many years.
