Moscato Bianco is a white Italian grape variety known for its use in the famous sweet sparkling wines of Asti. Potentially one of the oldest Moscato grapes in Italy, featuring in the ancient Greek and Roman worlds, it has been made the principle white grape variety in Sicily’sSiracusa DOC as it attempts to revive its famous wine-making past.
Based in the steep hills of Mango in the province of Cuneo, Marco and Cinzia continue the work of Marco’s father Elvio, who worked tirelessly to promote Moscato d’Asti, and in particular his local terroir of Gramella.
Based just north of Siracusa, Cantine Pupillo are known primarily for their Moscato di Siracusa wines. In recent years there has been a bigger trend towards dry wines however.
Marenco is one of the great producers of Strevi, the little known sweet wine produced in Piedmont from the Moscato Bianco grape. The winery is also well known for their excellent Brachetto d’Aqui and in more recent years, the Albarossa grape.
